Menopause is a natural process of aging.1 While 51 years is the average age of menopause, it can happen at any time between 35 and 55 years.1, 2

What is early menopause?

For some women, menopause can happen early due to surgical intervention where the ovaries are removed, or there’s damage to the ovaries because of chemotherapy or radiation treatment.3

What is premature menopause?

Happens when the ovaries stop functioning before 40 years and is often linked to smoking, radiation exposure, chemotherapy, or surgery.2 Research shows 1 in 100 women develop menopause before 40.5 This condition is also called primary ovarian insufficiency (POI).4
